Dushanbe - Ishkashim The M41 from Dushanbe takes you to Khorog and a smaller southern road takes you to Ishkashim. There are military checkpoints so you must ensure you have your GBAO permit otherwise you will not be allowed to travel on the road. At Ishkashim (Tajik side) you can cross the border into Afghanistan. The bridge is not open to vehicles so you must cross and arrange transport in Ishkashim (Afghan side). Flying to Kabul Kabul has an international airport, however due to there being no direct flights from the UK to Afghanistan you will have to change. .www.flyariana.com flies to the Afghan capital from Dubai, the daily departures leave in the morning and return flights are scheduled from Kabul in the afternoon. Ariana also offer flights to Kabul from Frankfurt. .www.flykamairline.com operates daily morning flights from Dubai to Kabul, afternoon flights are available only on a Thursday & Sunday. On return there are daily afternoon flights and on Thursday and Sunday there is also a morning flight available. www.safiairways.aero also fly to Kabul from Dubai and Frankfurt. Flying To Dushanbe Dushanbe, Tajikistan's capital has an international airport. There are no direct flights from the UK. This is the safest route to enter Afghanistan as you can cross straight into Ishkashim which is located at the mouth of the Wakhan Corridor. |
