Pack Animal Hire in The Wakhan Corridor

Pack Animals - Horses, Yaks and donkeys are the main form of pack
animal here. Horses and donkeys can be hired out in most villages.
From Sarhad - e Broghil Yaks can be hired out. When an animal is
hired the price includes the animal handler who will take care of all the
animals needs.

Guide Price & Estimated Weight -, it does vary down the valley as it is
dependant on the owner

Horses $16 a day, $8 half a day and can carry 40 Kg

Donkeys $8 per day and carry 30 Kg

Yaks $16 a day, $8 for half a day and can carry 50 Kg

Purchasing a pack animal

It is highly recommened that you have a guide with you. They can
ensure that you are not given a lame or sick animal. With language
problems travellers have found the process difficult and have at times
got themselves into difficulty. Make sure you check the animal well
before you consider the purchase.

Donkeys can be bought for an estimated $150 - $200

Horses can be bought for an estimated $400 - $700
