Wildlife Conservation Society The WCS are running a number of projects to help protect the wildlife in the Wakhan Corridor. They are helping to establish a number of tourism projects that will help manage the balance between wildlife and local subsitance farmers. Mountain Wilderness - Supporting the Return of Mountaineering to the Wakhan Corridor Mountain Wilderness have been supporting mountaineering expeditions to the Wakhan Corridor since 2003 when they organised the Oxus, Mountains for Peace expedition to climb Noshaq. This expedition was organised by Carlo Alberto Pinelli who climbed in Afghanistan in the 1960s. The site seems to be under construction at the moment. They are also the driving force behind the Return to Noshaq project which aims to clear the only minefields that exist in the Wakhan Corridor which are in the Noshaq valley.
