The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises against all but essential travel to Afghanistan. We will lobby the FCO for the Wakhan Corridor to be exempt from this advice for travellers using the route in from Tajikistan at Ishkashim as we believe this to be safe for tourists. The main reason for our concern is that most insurers will not provide cover for "black-listed" locations which will put a lot of people off coming to an area that is not only safe but is in deperate need of the income that tourists could provide. Currently if you want insurance specialist brokers: Try Campbellirvine.com who provide insurance to blacklisted destinations.
