Afiat Khan - started his mountaineering experience in 2003. On this occasion he was one of the few Afghans to reach the first camp at 6000m. He participated in two training courses in the Panjshir in 2005, and also in the Wakhan in 2006. In 2007 he travelled to the Italian and French Alps and had further training. In 2008 he was part of two mountaineering expeditions in the Afghan Hindu Kush. In 2009 he travelled again to the French Alps and went through more training provided by the Alpinism school in Chamonix. He was part of the Noshaq expedition in June 2009. Afiat Khan is 28 years old, and lives in Qazi-deh. Gorgali - Followed the training process by Mountain Wilderness in 2003 followed by two further training courses in the Panjshir, 2005 and in the Wakhan 2006. He also travelled to the Italian and French Alps in 2007 for further training. In 2009 he travelled again to the French Alps and received training from the Alpinism school in Chamonix. He was part of the 2009 Noshaq expedition in June. In July 2009 he led the first Wild Frontiers trek. Gorgali is 28, during the winter season he is a teacher and lives in Kharey. He speaks good conversational English. Malang - worked in 2003 with the Mountain Wilderness Noshaq expedition. He also participated in two training courses, the first In 2005 in the Panjshir, and the second in the Wakhan, 2006. In 2009 he travelled to the French Alps and was given training by the Alpinism school in Chamonix. In July 2009 Malang summited Noshaq, Afghanistan's highest mountain (7492m). He is 35 years old and lives in Qazi-deh at the bottom of the Noshaq valley. Amruddin - Followed the training process by Mountain Wilderness in 2003, Panshir 2005 and 2006 in the Wakhan. He travelled to the French Alps in 2009 and received training from the Alpinism school in Chamonix. In July 2009 he summited Noshaq Afghanistan's highest mountain (7492m). Amruddin is also an extremely good cook at high altitude, his speciality being pasta-Italian style! Amruddin lives in Khandud and his house is now also a guesthouse and a campsite. He is 25. Aziz - Followed the training process by Mountain Wilderness in 2003, Panjshir 2005 and Wakhan 2006. He worked with a trekking and mountaneering expedition in 2007 and 2008. Aziz worked as a cook in 2009 on the Wild Frontiers trekk. He is 28 years old. |
